Health Improvement

Health Action Council is dedicated to using our resources to help bring about quality outcomes for our employer members and their employees. Through our foundation, Health Quality Forum, we collaborate with others in the community to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare, resulting in the enhanced health of the population. Health Action Council participates in projects that will transform the delivery of healthcare and support educational initiatives on subjects related to health and healthcare that are useful to individuals and beneficial to the community.

For employers

Health Action Council facilitates and participates in meetings and forums with regional coalitions and community partners to encourage a data-driven and value-based approach to purchasing healthcare benefits. We also advocate for employers by helping insurers, vendors, healthcare professionals and policy makers better align payment models, such as bundled and value-based payments, and health outcomes.

Current projects include:

  • Alliance for a Healthier Generation
  • The Leapfrog Group
  • Lake County Primary Care Initiative

Other Resources:

For employees

Health Action Council also provides its members with information they can offer their employees to help them work more effectively with physicians to improve their outcomes and quality of care.

Guidelines include:

  • Preparing for a doctor visit
  • How to work with your doctor
  • Questions to ask
  • Avoiding unnecessary care
  • Where to get care (clinic vs. urgent care vs. ER)
  • Checking hospital scores before scheduling surgery

*Health Action Council continues its role as a Coordinator for the Leapfrog Group, reaching out to Ohio, Minnesota, and Oregon hospitals and health systems to encourage them to participate in the annual Leapfrog Survey and enlist their support of Leapfrog’s broader quality-related goals.
