Rock Star Ar’s Financial Service Company Wins Health Action Council Step-it-up Challenge

Rock Star AR’s Financial Service Company, located in California, were the Fall Step-It-Up Winners for Health Action Council. There were 58 teams and 375 participants in this challenge. This active group averaged 10,647 daily steps.  

Rock Star AR’s won, with an impressive total score of 187,172 stepsaveraging 13,369 steps per day.  The team won a healthy lunch for their team and a donation to either their local Ronald McDonald House or local school garden.  

The individual winner was Brenda Kitts from Ashland University, who won 2 Fitbit Charge 4’s.  Brenda had a total of 462,032 steps with an average of 33,022 per day. The top 12 teams included: Sole Sisters, Walko Tacos, Melissa’s Milers, Team OSM, Walk the Moon, Soul Sisters, M&M, Westfield Strides, Lost in Pace, and HolyWalkamolie!

Mini-challenge winners include: Mandy Jones of DCH Employee Experience who logged in 10,000 daily steps, and won a $10 Dick’s Gift Card; Lynn Via of DS Strong, who powered through 70 active minutes or more in a day, and won a Fitbit Charge 4; Kristin Egan of Team Tri-C for her Facebook Post on “How are you getting steps?," winning a $10 Starbucks Gift Card; T.J. Vermaaten of Wesley Woods, who logged in an impressive eight sets of stairs for a Fitbit Charge 4; Angela Wirick of Fremont Strong for her creative health recipe post on Facebook, winning a $10 Panera Gift Card; Joe Keer of Sumo San-itizer for 60 active minutes, winning a $15 Target Gift Card and James Goldrick of Sole Patrol for 10,000 steps or more, winning a Fitbit Charge 4.  

“This challenge had the most supportive group of people, helping each other and challenging each other to a healthier lifestyle.” said Patty Starr, President and CEO of Health Action Council. “Posting recipes, encouraging fun ways to stay active and collaborating were all successful ways for people to successfully complete this fun competition.”

Dancing classes, walks with friends, walking the dog and jogging in place were some of the ways that people and groups achieved their goals. Sharing recipes were great ways of encouraging healthy eating.

The Health Action Council Step It Up Challenge, sponsored by Fitbit is a free, virtual step program that brings employers all the benefits of an official step program without all the management hassles.  Participants do not have to be Health Action Council members to participate.
