Cleveland, Ohio -- Health Action Council (HAC) announced a new and expanded relationship with UnitedHealthcare (UHC), effective January 1, 2025. The new agreement, including UnitedHealthcare (UHC), UMR, and Surest was made following a thorough RFI process and analysis of health plan quality, service, and cost data. Both Health Action Council and UnitedHealthcare share a common focus on improving the quality of health care for member employers by bringing new initiatives to help employers meet financial and benefit goals.
“This renewed partnership with UHC resulted from a solid process involving Deloitte Consulting, our Board of Directors, and members,” said Patty Starr, President & CEO of Health Action Council. “UHC demonstrated superior capabilities in the requirements, and a commitment to evolve to better support our members’ collective need for keeping their populations healthy, informed, and well cared for within the complex healthcare system.”
The evaluation of renewing and expanding the relationship was based on:
- network access
- pricing
- clinical management capabilities
- service
- the ability to effectively manage patient care
A notable change is the addition of Surest through Health Action Council. Surest, a UnitedHealthcare company, gives members the tools to see cost and coverage information before the point of care.
In addition members receive 50% more clinical outreach to address rising costs and declining health. Other key elements include:
- The addition of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) Coordinators for outreach to members with social barriers, at no additional cost
- Two additional communication campaigns
- Continuation of existing dedicated advocate and nurse teams
The development of a forward-looking predictive reporting package
The renewed partnership provides value to employers by improving the quality, cost and value of healthcare; developing solutions that maintain a healthy workforce today; and building resources for a healthier workforce tomorrow.
This program with UnitedHealthcare offers HAC member employers a national perspective with local expertise, as well as competitive, transparent administrative fees. This partnership solidifies HAC’s 40-year reputation in building successful group purchasing programs with market-leading terms for over 2.7 million unique lives.
