Position Description: Health Action Council is seeking a motivated Marketing & Communications intern to help develop and implement communication materials that engage Health Action Council members, prospective members, distribution partners, and partners; promote collaboration among a broad spectrum of stakeholder groups, including employers, employees, providers, educators, and policy makers; and raise awareness of Health Action Council within the broader community. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student or recent graduate looking to build real-world experience and grow a professional portfolio.
Position Location: Company headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio
Intern will learn and experience:
- Applying graphic design principles to create engaging print and digital marketing materials.
- Participating in the planning and execution of Health Action Council events, including our signature Annual In-Value-Able Conference & Expo.
- Crafting and distributing a variety of online communications.
- Participating in staff meetings (as required).
- Networking with professional across industries and sectors – particularly in the benefits and wellness sector.
- How marketing and communications influences engagement, member experience, and brand awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Health Action Council’s communications and marketing efforts.
- Design and create visual assets such as flyers, presentations, social media graphics, email headers, the annual report, and other branded materials.
- Use graphic design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) to produce high-quality content.
- Assist with content creation and updates of various online communications tools, including the Health Action Council website, newsletter, and education event announcements.
- Help manage and grow our presence on social media platforms.
- Compile materials for events/meetings.
- Assist with the implementation of the Annual IN-VALUE-ABLE Conference & Expo.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Hours: The internship program generally requires a minimum of 20 to 32 hours per week. Health Action Council is flexible in terms of work schedule. You will work closely with your Health Action Council supervisor to establish a consistent schedule in advance of your start date. If completing this internship for college credit, the college/university and Health Action Council will coordinate to determine work hours.
Compensation: Health Action Council offers an hourly wage.
Qualifications:
- Recent graduate or currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Skilled in creating strong visual content and experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), or similar tools is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with various social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, etc.) in a professional context.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- Exposure to marketing automation is a plus
