Business Solutions Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Business Solutions Specialist plays an instrumental role on the sales team, driving membership and product sales goals by assisting with sales activities and development and tracking of prospect and consultant relationships. Works in tandem with the sales leaders to develop, support, and execute the regional sales business plan and strategy. Helps favorably position Health Action Council as a known and valued business partner by supporting a compelling value proposition, clearly articulating points of differentiation to consultants and prospects.

The successful candidate will take direction, show initiative, and be able to work independently. S/he is a fast learner and willing to take on projects and educate others. A strong work ethic, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and desire to learn are essential. You have an analytical mindset that can turn data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate is a strong collaborator, relationship builder and an effective and skilled team player. This individual is nimble and proactive and can work in a transforming and fluid environment with strong attention to detail, organization, and project management skills. The ideal individual will take pride in making a difference and being an integral part of a small team.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance, economics, business, or education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research and identify market opportunities
  • Create and manage prospect market research analysis and prospecting, including but not limited to prospect’s incumbent relationships
  • Update and continually ensure the accuracy of prospect and consultant data in Salesforce
  • Develop and maintain target broker and prospect lists
  • Identify consulting group leaders and critical contacts
  • Gather and analyze market intelligence data to identify viable prospects and competitor positioning
  • Make outbound prospecting calls to target employer and broker/consultant prospects for initial vetting and meeting setup
  • Set up broker/consultant and employer appointments for the Sales team
  • Ensure quotes are issued by endorsed vendors and accurately added to Salesforce
  • Gather information on renewal RFPs
  • Assist tracking RFPs through Vendor Partners to ensure deadlines are met and the required information is gathered
  • Work with marketing to create meeting materials for the sales rep
  • Collect and send meeting follow ups
  • Analyze and track customer data, findings, and activities
  • Attend sales meetings, conferences, and regional events to provide expertise and input on industry tools and resources.
  • Ensure non-disclosure agreements (NDA), PBM proposals, re-pricings, and disruption reports are delivered in a timely manner
  • Act as backup for Sales Team when not available
  • Answer questions from clients, prospects, and consultants
  • Stay informed about the status and developments of potential customers
  • Seek quick resolutions and answers to Sales Team and customer inquiries
  • Develop a strong knowledge of all Health Action Council Group Purchasing products
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to improve operational efficiency and ensure best practices
  • Develop collegial relationships with internal partners to maximize resource productivity, improve output quality, develop tools, and provide input on products. Ensure HAC is delivering best-in-class products and services to the marketplace 

 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  • Three-five years in professional benefits and sales.
  • Licensed (health and life insurance) or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Pharmacy Benefits Managers and Pharmacy Benefit Plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of the marketplace for self-insured health care benefits and products.
  • Experience with insurance compliance issues, health care reform, and public health policy.
  • Working understanding of the health care delivery marketplace.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the local health care market and business community.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex issues and influence decision makers.
  • Ability to integrate into local professional organizations and industry stakeholders.
  • Be a skilled team player, but a self-motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Desire to contribute to continuous process improvement within the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or up to 2 years business experience
  • Business acumen and basic understanding of sales process
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Able to achieve measured results
  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and control multiple projects concurrently
