Employee Benefits Sales Representative

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Employee Benefits Sales Representative identifies and secures new members, program participants, and relationships for the organization. Membership benefits include access to money-saving group purchasing programs, valuable educational seminars, industry peers, and projects that improve the quality of healthcare and population health in the community.

The Employee Benefits Sales Representative develops and manages new and existing relationships with insurance brokers and consultants, group-purchased product partners, and current members to secure new membership and product sales. Following a sale, this individual will actively participate in ongoing account management for member retention. Provide support and advisory services to the sales and support teams of our group-purchased product vendors. In addition, this person will actively seek RFIs and RFPs for medical, pharmacy, vision, and flu shot programs, when possible anticipating opportunities before they are issued.  Coordinate our team’s response to RFIs and RFPs and vendor evaluations.

The preferred candidate will have excellent communication and sales skills, expertise in health and pharmacy insurance and employee benefits, be able to speak at events, and participate in panel discussions. Ability to use a CRM system is a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop a referral system through industry centers of influence (i.e. consultants, brokers, CFOs, accountants, lawyers) and community outreach.
  • Direct Prospecting. Conduct outreach directly to prospective members.
  • Update CRM and provide reports on activities. Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Presentation Skills. Create and effectively deliver presentations.
  • Writing and Communication. Effectively communicate with prospective and existing members.
  • Sales and Support. Ask prospective members for their business and support the management of current members.

 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

  • Three-five years in professional benefits and sales.
  • Licensed (health and life insurance) or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of Pharmacy Benefits Managers and Pharmacy Benefit Plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of the marketplace for self-insured health care benefits and products.
  • Experience with insurance compliance issues, health care reform, and public health policy.
  • Working understanding of the health care delivery marketplace.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the local health care market and business community.
  • Ability to effectively explain complex issues and influence decision makers.
  • Ability to integrate into local professional organizations and industry stakeholders.
  • Be a skilled team player, but a self-motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Desire to contribute to continuous process improvement within the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

 

Location:

  • Remote position
  • Near a major airport

 

Scheduling and Travel Requirements:

  • Must be available during standard business hours, and occasional off-hours.
  • Travel (fly/drive) required, approximately 50%
