Position Description:  Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as an integral member of the management team, the Operations Leader will be responsible for ensuring projects and initiatives are completed on time and on budget, as well as, contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals.   This individual will promote company culture and vision.  The Operations Leader will be charged with developing and implementing sophisticated policies and procedures for areas including but not limited to member relationship and engagement tracking, system use and adherence, marketing and education events / initiatives.   

Position Location:  Company headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio

Responsibilities:

Strategy, Vision and Leadership
  • Advise the Executive Director and other members of management on procedure and policy matters.
  • Contribute to the development of Health Action Council strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management and efficiency of the organization.
  • Monitor progress of the organization’s operation plan and ensure goals are on target.  Report monthly to the management team as well as the entire team during weekly meetings.
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Executive Director informed of all critical issues.
  • Provide for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence; helping to maintain a positive energy in the workplace and support an open-door policy among all staff.
  • Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in lease negotiations and vendor negotiations including but not limited to IT support, and software support.
Team Development/Leadership
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the operations teams.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, monitor and evaluate results, and conduct annual performance appraisals
Operations
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, standards, and procedures.
  • Ensure that Health Action Council is adhering to the strategic and operations plan, delivering status reports to the board.
  • Provide analytical support to Health Action Councils internal management team.
  • Deliver reports to the Executive Director regarding staff productivity and performance including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
  • Oversee the marketing initiatives of Health Action Council
  • Update and deliver member and supporter scorecard metrics and tools 
  • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology and financial systems that support the growth of specific programs and the organization overall.
  • Implement a grant writing program to fund additional work.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s in business administration or Non-profit management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health care benefits and administration is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management including supervising employees.
  • Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization.
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
  • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask.
  • Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver results oriented.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical operations.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with individuals at all levels internally and externally.
  • Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
