Marketing Communications Leader

 

We are currently searching for an experienced and creative Marketing Communications Leader.  Successful candidates can develop, implement and evaluate an annual communications plan.  In addition, this person will have the editorial skill to generate content for and coordinate company communications, electronic media and presentations.  The individual will demonstrate a broad range of familiarity with marketing mix and the ability to manage external relationships.  The individual will have the project management skills to put communication vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as test effectiveness.  The ideal individual relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals, will perform a variety of complex tasks and is an implementer and doer. The ability to work in a transforming environment with strong attention to detail and organization is essential.  The ideal individual will take pride in making a difference and being an integral part of a small team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Project manager and communications expert in developing communication strategies for projects, publications or collateral

  • Develop and manage messaging (stories about people, products, and programs)

  • Publish and manage the communication/marketing plan/calendar

  • Develop, publish, and manage content of interest on website, social media related channels, open contribution websites

  • Manage and update content on the website (architecture, content development, posting, …)

  • Write and edit copy and execute the newsletter, annual report and other collateral materials, as well as speeches and copy for the Web

  • Create compelling success stories that demonstrate the value of the organization

  • Conducts interviews with members, event attendees, supporters and sponsors

  • Create press releases and other media and act as the key communications liaison

  • Translate research into meaningful articles, white papers and tool kits

  • Conduct secondary research for publication development

  • Develop a plan to market regional annual conference to increase member and non-member participation over year

  • Market education activities to increase member participation at live and/or virtual education events

  • Create all written materials and signage associated with the annual conferences

  • Develop surveys, collect data from survey, analyze data

​DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Excellent writing, editing, grammar and proofreading skills

  • Strong working knowledge of all forms of communication (print and electronic)

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and handle multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Sound judgement

  • Must be self-motivated and have a demonstrated ability to produce quality results.

  • Ability to think strategically, turn information into effective strategies, yet willing and able to act tactically to execute marketing activities

  • Can objectively interpret research, extract insights, link to strategies, and communicate in a motivating way

  • Proficient in balancing the delivery of marketing campaigns and initiatives against the realities of a budget

  • Ability to manage outside vendors/agency partners to a plan and within budget

  • Proven experience in working in teams as well as able to work independently

  • Experience as a medical/science, health insurance or employee benefits writer and editor or a strong working knowledge of health care benefits and products

  • Ability to contribute to continuous process improvement within the organization

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Package, Constant Contact, Kentico or WordPress, Google Analytics and social media platforms

​MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Five years of experience in communication/marketing function to include experience in writing, editing, researching and preparing materials

  • Background in social media marketing and management

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Knowledge of basic graphic design

  • Excellent oral skills

  • Team player

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some travel may be required

  • May be required to work more than 8 hours

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available during standard business hours and occasional off-hours

  • Solid and reliable transportation mandatory.  Must be available to travel and work a flexible schedule
