Position Description: We are currently searching for a self-starter, well-connected, thoughtful and energetic Business Solutions Leader.  Successful candidates must have excellent networking skills, be outcome-oriented and conscientious.  The individual will have a strong working knowledge of self-insured health care benefits and products.  In addition, the individual will understand the process undertaken by an employer when making a benefits decision.  The ability to work in a transforming environment with strong attention to detail and organization is essential. The ideal individual will take pride in making a difference and being an integral part of a small team.

Position Location:  Remote position. Will need access to major airport for travel to Western portion of the U.S.

Position Summary: Our Business Solutions Leader is responsible for meeting business development goals by identifying and securing new members, program participants and relationships.  Membership benefits include access to money saving group purchased programs, valuable educational seminars, access to industry peers and involvement in working to improve the quality of healthcare and population health in the community. 

The Business Solutions Leader will be comfortable developing and managing relationships with employers with more than 1,000 employees, insurance brokers and consultants while building community partnerships to secure new memberships. The Business Solutions Leader will conduct in person meetings with employers (prospective members), insurance brokers and consultants, group purchased product partners, and community leaders.  The Business Solutions Leader will actively seek RFIs and RFPs for medical, pharmacy and vision programs and motivate benefit vendor evaluations prior to a formal RFI and RFP process being issued.  You will be responsible for coordinating the team necessary to respond to the RFI and RFPs or vendor evaluations. 

The Business Solutions Leader will either have health insurance expertise with one of the BUCAs or sales experience with a leading ancillary benefits provider combined with demonstrated health care knowledge along with overall employee benefits industry expertise.

The position requires you to actively work with employers with more than 1,000 employees while working with sales and support teams of our group purchased product vendors.  You will provide support and advisory services as necessary to secure new business.  The Business Solutions Leader will lead the overall sales process and participate in ongoing account management for member retention, as needed. 
The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to use a CRM system.  You will also engage in other duties necessary to enhance the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the team.

Essential Functions:
  • Direct Prospecting.  Conduct outreach directly to prospective employer Members.
  • Networking.  Develop a referral system through industry centers of influence (consultants, brokers, employers, accountants and lawyers) and other community outreach.
  • Administration. Update Salesforce and provide reports on activities.
  • Presentation Skills.  Create and effectively deliver presentations.
  • Writing Skills.  Effectively respond to prospective and existing members.
  • Selling.  Ask prospective members for their business
Desired Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of self-insured health care benefits and products.
  • Clear understanding of insurance compliance issues and health care reform.
  • General understanding of health care delivery marketplace.
  • Familiarity with public health care policy. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with local health care market and business community
  • Critical thinking combined with the ability to effectively explain complex issues.
  • Ability to integrate into local professional organizations and industry stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with entrepreneur mindset.
  • Ability to contribute to continuous process improvement within the organization.
Minimum Education, Experience and Skills Required:
  • Five years of successful medical, pharmacy, ancillary products, wellness or payroll selling experience
  • Licensed (health and life insurance) or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with health care reform and compliance issues
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Self-directed with an ability to positively influence decision makers
  • Self-motivated and self-confident
  • Goal oriented and driven
  • Problem-solving skills and service experience
  • Ability to listen, present and communicate
  • Ability to show empathy
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Physical Requirements:
  • Weekly travel/driving required
  • May be required to work more than 8 hours
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Must be available to work occasional off-hours
  • Must be available during standard business hours
