Healthy Kids Campaign Toolkit Promotes Children’s Health and Wellness

Health Action Council and Ohio High School Athletic Association have joined forces to engage students and their families, school leaders, teachers, athletic directors, coaches, employers and communities to promote improved health and wellness.  The goal is to encourage and promote childhood preventable disease vaccinations, well-child visits, activity among kids and enhance health literacy.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention, less than 24% of kids ages 6-17 participate in 60 minutes of physical activity every day.  Employers can benefit from engaging employees and their families in childhood health, since a large part of employee’s lost work time can be attributed to health problems developed during childhood.  By increasing employee’s understanding of their benefits and education on how that can support and improve the health of a child, employers can achieve lower healthcare costs, increased productivity, improved employee retention rates and a healthier workforce for tomorrow.

“We believe that healthy kids create healthy families, and healthy families make healthy and productive employees for today and tomorrow,” said Patty Starr, President and CEO, Health Action Council.

Approved and endorsed by the Ohio Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics, the 2021-2022 Healthy Kids Campaign Toolkit makes it simple for employers to share information with employees.  Educating employees about Childhood Preventable Disease Vaccinations, Well-Visits, Keeping Kids Active and Health Literacy will enable employers to spread the message and educate employees about children’s health.
