Health Action Council’s Spring Step It Up Challenge Winners Announced

April 7, 2020

Health Action Council’s Spring Step It Up Challenge sponsored by Fitbit consisted of 367 participants from 53 different teams averaging 9,841 steps each day!

Congratulations to the team winner Dewey Decimaters from the Beachwood Board of Education who averaged a whopping 28,749 steps each day!  They will enjoy a healthy lunch and have a $500 donation made in their name to a Ronald McDonald House or school garden project of their choice.

“We are thrilled with the number of participants in our challenge,’ said Patty Starr, President and CEO of Health Action Council. “This challenge was particularly important during this challenging time and these healthy fitness warriors maintained a sense of connectivity while social distancing. They are staying healthy at home and we hope more people will join us in this enjoyable fitness challenge.”

The individual award goes to Veronica Wendl from Dewey Decimaters. She averaged an insane 51,714 steps every day totaling 724,002 steps over the two-week challenge and is now a proud owner of a new Ionic Fitbit.

We also had four additional participants who achieved over 30,000 steps daily who will receive a $25 gift card from Dick's Sporting Goods including Don Czerniak from City of Toledo (33,028), Danielle Mooney from City of Toledo (31,310), Lee Medley from Novetta (31,111), and Bob Petro from Aleris (30,022).

LET'S KEEP STEPPING!
Since most of us are dealing with home quarantine, we've decided to extend the Step It Up Challenge until the end of April. Each week there will be two mini-challenges. Anyone who has not already received an award is eligible to receive a mini-challenge award.

And mark your calendar for the next Step It Up Challenge starting June 15.  To take the challenge go to healthactioncouncil.org/stepitup. For questions, contact David Phillips at [email protected] or call 216.236.0364.   Members and non-members are welcome. Don’t have Fitbit?  No worries, there are other ways to track steps per day.
