To Maximize Resources, Collaboration is Key

When it comes to maximizing resources, Vanilla Ice had the right idea, you need to “stop, collaborate, and listen.”

What we mean is before feeding money into existing programs in the system (ones that may not have as positive of an impact as you would ultimately like), take a step back and do some investigating.

  1. Research resources available around you and find out who else is actively involved and contributing to them
  2. Take time to develop a better understanding of the topic
  3. Work to systematically align existing efforts to reduce dual-dollar spend and employer overlap, address unmet needs/goals, and generate a more unified, coordinated effort
  4. Do a best practice study of the environment, and if necessary, create/implement new strategies and approaches to maximize existing resources

Whether you are just starting the journey or have been at it for 30 years, it’s important to know that there are others thinking about the same issues and also trying to find a way to make a difference. These people work in all areas of business and organizations, including: human resources, benefits management, finance, corporate social responsibility and community outreach. They’re at Health Action Council Members and partner offices, manufacturing plants, distribution locations, customer service centers, stores, and medical offices all over the country. Most importantly, they are passionate, intelligent stakeholders like you who appreciate the success of each other.

Now get out there! Effectively maximizing resources doesn’t have to be difficult. Simply reach out to like-minded individuals and organizations who share your passion for purpose, start a conversation, then work together and collaborate, collaborate, collaborate!
